Battle of Britain 2016 - The Climbing Depot Manchester
The Climbing Depot Manchester pulled out all the stops for the Battle of Britain 2016, with a huge lighting rig, specially imported holds, and Alex Megos to boot!
I was on hand to shoot the day - check out some of the images below.
Raven Tor - Andy Burgess - Mecca
I got out on Sunday to the Tor for a climb and to continue shooting Yann on 'Kabbah'. While there I met a cool guy called Andy Burgess who was trying the super famous 'Mecca'. On one of his burns I wandered up the hill to take a few shots.
Luna in the park
I picked up a new flash a little while ago, and I've been trying it out in a variety of situations to find some inventive uses, and make sure my IR trigger system will work with the rest of my kit. We took a late walk last week along with my flash and tried out some silhouette shots in the dark.
Eyes Wide Shut - Joe Heeley - Dovedale
A few weeks ago, I got the call from Joe about a new route he was trying, and the offer to play with his new drone. I love the scenery in Dovedale, so I jumped at the opportunity and here is the resulting film.

I might not have had unlimited access, but I'm dead chuffed with the set.

Dovedale/Kailas Snaps
This weekend, my friend Leanne invited me to Dovedale to take some pictures to enter in a competition. I had never been to Dovedale before, so a quick google, and check of my guidebooks showed me the stunning surroundings, quite unlike any of the Peak District limestone crags I was familiar with.
The picture used in the competition can be found here and I would massively appreciate it if you took the time to throw a vote on the pile...Winner gets a paid trip to the Yangshuo Climbing Festival!
Anyway, take a look below and let me know which you like

Curbar with Jack, Ruth and Anthony
In a couple of weekends time, I have the privilege of shooting the wedding of two of my best friends from University - Jack and Ruth.
This weekend, we went out for a walk along Curbar Edge along with Anthony - another friend from the university climbing club.
While the weather wasn't the best, the rain just about held off and we managed to have a great time. I took some photos along the way - please take a look to the right!

Depot Boulder League Pictures
The Final Round of the Depot Winter Boulder League took place last week, and as usual, I was there with my camera to record events.
Billy Ridal put in an amazing effort to clinch a last round victory, and overall victory for the 5 month competition.

Lake District
This Easter, we made the trip up to the Lake District from Nottingham.
It was the first time for both of us, so we didn't really know where to go. Eventually we decided to visit Coniston, and attempt the Old Man of Coniston on Saturday. On Sunday, we took the trip north and made our way to the Bowderstone before heading back home in the evening.
I was utterly blown away by the beautiful landscapes up there, and I can't wait to go back.

CWIF 2015
One of the largest climbing competitions in the country took place this weekend in Sheffield.
I have wanted to take part in this competition for many years, and never quite been fit enough to put in a good performance. This year, however, I was feeling good enough to put in a show, and came out very happy with my performance.
My beautiful assistant, Abigail, came along to take pictures of the event, and after editing, I think we came out with a really nice set!

Varsity Competition
Last week we held the Nottingham Universities Varsity Competition at the Depot in Nottingham. This was the first time that I had set finals problems for a commercial competition, and it was a really interesting experience, loads more pressure than normal, but I think we did a really good job of splitting the competitors.
While the competition was running, I ran around taking pictures of as many problems as I could. Towards the end of the qualification round, I took out my flash and started to get a little more artistic with the shots. Leading to perhaps my favourite climbing photo so far.
Skiing in Flaine
For the last week I have been skiing in the Flaine region of the Alps. I've never taken my DSLR up onto the mountain with me on previous trips, so it was fun to try and get a few action/landscape shots. There's nothing too 'out-there' in this set, but since all the stunt parks were closed, there wasn't a whole lot else to shoot.
Voyager and The Ace
Today, one of my friends came up from Bristol to try and snag an ascent of the famed gritstone testpiece 'Voyager'. For those that dont know, Voyager is fiercely sharp, and one of the hardest boulder problems in the Peak District. The sitstart was completed in 2006 by Ben Moon and given the grade 8B+, it has not been repeated...
Hamish had been trying the line earlier in the season, but hadn't succeeded. When I saw the facebook post about it, I knew that I had to get there to take some pictures when he got back on it.
While there, I also took some snaps of James Squire, and Nathan Phillips who were also trying the line. No doubt one of them will grab an ascent within another couple of sessions.
After we were done at Voyager, everyone packed up to head over to Stanage. While we were in the carpark, we met Billy Ridal, who had just done Careless Torque. Conditions were good for the day. Despite this news, Hamish, James and Nathan chose to try their luck on another of the hardest grit problems by tackling 'The Ace', which is another 8B - this time put up by Jerry Moffatt.
