Best Places for Couples shoots in Leicestershire
We recently moved even closer to Loughborough after living in Leicestershire for several years. We’ve shot all around the region, and there are several beautiful locations for couples shoots nearby.
Some of our favourites are of course the superb Bradgate Park and Beacon Hill, but there’s also loads of peaceful woodlands around, and some historic points of interest as well that can make for some super backdrops for couples and engagement shoots in the region.
Here are our top locations:
Beacon Hill Country Park:
This park is located in the heart of Leicestershire and offers stunning views from the top of the hill. There is so much variety here, including woodlands, a lake, and plenty of walking trails that provide great photo opportunities. It’s also super easy to access, and the walking trails are quite gentle for those feeling a little less adventurous.
Bradgate Park:
This is one of the most popular destinations for couples shoots in the area. Bradgate Park features stunning rocky outcrops, lush meadows, and herds of red and fallow deer roaming free. We usually meet at the Old John Carpark and walk up the hill from there to take in views of the area, take some shots with the iconic rock formations, and generally have a good time!
Cademan Woods:
Cademan Woods is an ideal location for couples looking for a romantic and intimate setting for their photoshoot. The woodland provides a natural and picturesque backdrop, with a range of stunning views and photo opportunities, including wildflowers, tall trees, and winding paths.
Grace Dieu Priory Ruins:
Grace Dieu Priory ruins are the remains of a medieval priory located near Thringstone in Leicestershire, England. The priory was founded in 1235 by Roesia de Verdon, the widow of William de Ferrers, as a home for Augustinian nuns. The priory's buildings were constructed of local stone and featured a church, cloisters, and living quarters. After the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century, the priory was abandoned and fell into ruins. Today, the ruins are a popular tourist attraction and offer a unique setting for photography, with the remnants of the priory's walls, arches, and other architectural features providing a beautiful and atmospheric backdrop.
You can either park at the Bulls Head, and walk through, or find somewhere even closer to use these ancient ruins as the backdrop for our shoot. They catch the light beautifully in the evening, and offer a number of cosy areas to take some relaxed pictures with.
Places we’d like to shoot:
So those are the places we’ve already shot, but there’s a few more in the region that we’d like to investigate!
Swithland Woods: This is a beautiful woodland area that is perfect for couples shoots. The woods have a variety of walking trails, streams, and ponds that provide stunning backdrops for photos.
Watermead Country Park: This is a large park situated between Leicester and Loughborough, with several lakes and plenty of wildlife. The park offers plenty of photo opportunities, including a wildlife sanctuary, a sailing club, and a picturesque bridge.
Great Central Railway: If you're looking for a unique location for your couples shoot, the Great Central Railway is a great choice. The railway features several vintage steam trains, stations, and platforms that can make for a memorable backdrop.
If you’d like to have a chat about shooting in any of the above areas then we’d love to hear from you. We’re available throughout the year, and because we’re so close we can head out on relatively short notice depending on the weather!
Drop us a line via our couples contact form, and we’ll get a date in the diary.
