Lucy and Dalton // Pattoo Castle, Jamaica Wedding

Lucy and Dalton

Long blog incoming… sorry, not sorry…

This one has been a long time to get here, and I'm thrilled to finally share the story of Lucy and Dalton's wedding in Jamaica from last year. I genuinely believe you'd be hard-pressed to find two more welcoming, thoughtful, fun, and enjoyable people to spend time with. I bloody love these two, and not just them, but the circle of friends they have surrounded themselves with. It’s always a party when we get to hang out - here’s to the next one!!!

Anyway, I’ll stop gushing and get onto the event… Lucy and Dalton chose Jamaica as their wedding destination due to their work on cruise ships and their international circle of friends. Dalton is Jamaican, while Lucy is from Telford in the UK… Faced with the choice of the UK or an international locale, they understandably opted for the sunny beaches, swaying palm trees, and perfect blue skies of the Caribbean as the backdrop for their celebration. The luxury setting of Pattoo Castle on the West Coast of Jamaica, near Negril, was a perfect backdrop to a wedding ceremony that felt like a heartfelt tribute to their relationship, full of joy, smiles and a bit of that island style!

We always prefer arriving early for destination weddings, not only to acclimate but also to familiarise ourselves with the surroundings, and some other wedding guests before the formalities begin. Arriving a few days ahead, we met up with Lucy and Dalton on a nearby beach for some margaritas before the arrival of their friends and family. It was also an incredible experience to be invited to the boys' and girls' days, held the day before the wedding. The boys went out fishing on a boat (using old spark plugs as weights!!), while the girls enjoyed yoga and pool time at the venue.

After the boys returned with the catch of the day, the in-house chef, who absolutely smashed the cooking throughout the trip, provided another delicious dinner rich with Caribbean spices, and hot enough for Abigail to get a bit of a sweat on 😅.

Each day on the island was marked by a torrential downpour at around 4 pm, which proved to be a bit of a forewarning for the wedding day! Nevertheless, with sunny skies abounding in the morning we enjoyed some cliff jumping in bridal bikini (complete with veil), and then busied ourselves between the bridal and groom rooms. Dalton looked dashing in a perfectly ironed pale pink suit and bowtie, while Lucy prepared to don a stunning wedding gown surrounded by her incredible bridesmaids in pink.

Just as we were about to get ready to head down to the front of the house though… the rain started… and continued…. and got heavier… and heavier… But do you know what? Lucy just laughed, and smiled, and chilled out in her room. The guests hid under cover, and 15 minutes later the sun was back and the seats were wiped down. It’s this aspect of island life that I just love. Smile, laugh, and get on with it. In the end, they tied the knot on the decking infront of the house before going for some couples photos up on the roof.

The entire wedding seamlessly blended with the tropical surroundings, and we captured the day in our usual candid and relaxed style, reveling in the subtle luxuries. Naturally, we enjoyed yet another perfect sunset just before dinner. Have a scroll down below, take a look at these incredible pictures, and let me know your thoughts.
