Stone Barn Wedding Photographer, Cotswolds – Bowl of Corks

There’s something about Stone Barn in July that just works. The wildflower fields across the road are at their peak. The gardens are full and in bloom. And the light – particularly as the evening stretches out over those Cotswold hills – does things you don’t want to miss. We stayed well past any reasonable leaving time, and I’d do it again without hesitation.

Toria got ready at Flagstone Farm in Condicote, near Stow-on-the-Wold – about twenty minutes from the venue and a lovely start to a July morning. Her dress was a Morilee gown from Love Me Do Brides, and with hair and makeup by Melissa Hair and Makeup, she looked effortlessly put together. The long veil was the finishing touch – the light in Stone Barn’s Dutch barns does something rather special with a veil. Matt had gone for a white tux, and it suited the day perfectly.

Stone Barn is the Cripps & Co venue tucked between Burford and Northleach on the Gloucestershire-Oxfordshire border – not to be confused with the many other stone barns scattered across the Cotswolds. This one has flagstone floors, timber beams, a vast open fireplace, and corrugated Dutch barns with views that carry for miles. It’s a venue that does relaxed really well, and Toria and Matt were a perfect fit for it. The flowers from Go Wild Flowers set the tone from the start – bright, bold, vibrant pinks, oranges and purples that echoed the hanging decorations in the main barn and made the whole space feel cohesive without being overdone. After the ceremony, guests spilled out into the grounds with drinks, with those wildflower fields visible across the road and the gardens at their summer best.

The entrance back into dinner got the reception it deserved – huge applause, the kind that arrives when a room is well-primed and ready to celebrate properly. The speeches delivered too, and I’ll leave it at that. After dessert, Ads on Sax took over – a saxophonist DJ who plays live over dancefloor classics – and he had the floor moving within minutes.

We slipped out before the first dance for couples portraits in the evening light. Stone Barn sits on a hill with uninterrupted views over the Cotswold countryside, and in July the light can be extraordinary. That evening it was, and we made the most of it. Then it got better, so we went back out for round two. When the sky is doing that and the couple is happy to come with you, there’s only one answer – absolutely worth it. Back inside for more dancing before we finished the night with sparklers, which is about as good an ending as you can ask for.
