Angus and Luke tied the knot at the magnificent Hedsor House, bringing together friends and family for a relaxed and stylish wedding celebration. Angus and Luke are the sort of people who put others at ease quickly, and I loved shooting for them, we felt welcomed and involved throughout – which always helps put guests at ease, and enables us to capture the images that we love.
There are always moments during a wedding day that feel as though they were made for still images, and this one had more than a few. One in particular is Luke’s reaction as he entered the ceremony room. Before he’d even reached the aisle, emotion took over and he broke down in tears. Moments like that don’t last long, but they carry a lot of weight, and they’re a big part of why we love documentary coverage. Later in the day, as guests drifted outside, the light shifted and the sky delivered an incredible sunset. Hedsor does sunsets very well, and this one didn’t disappoint.
Hedsor House is a venue with a lot of character and a tonne of cultural history. It has featured in productions including The Golden Compass, Fleabag, A Touch of Cloth, and Spooks, and over the years it has hosted actors such as Nicole Kidman, Tom Hardy, George Clooney, Ricky Gervais, Dustin Hoffman, Sting, Billy Connolly, Maggie Smith, and Richard E Grant.
From a photography perspective, the venue is a gift. The morning spaces offer strong natural window light without feeling staged, while the grounds provide a backdrop for perfect portraits. The mature trees across the estate give a sense of grandeur and gravitas that is hard to replicate at other venues in the UK.
