When Carly and Will first got in touch and filled in a little information on their contact form, we knew straight away that they were our people. They also got engaged in Yosemite, have travelled widely, and have friends and family scattered all over the world. Bringing everyone together in Derbyshire to celebrate felt intentional, meaningful, and like the culmination of a life well lived.
They chose Grangefields, a Cripps and Co venue just outside Derby, for its relaxed elegance and sense of place. It was a day rooted in connection, shaped by travel, and filled with thoughtful details that reflected who they are.

Bridal Preparations at Grangefields
Carly got ready in the newly opened bridal preparation space at Grangefields, which is filled with soft, directional light and a calm, considered feel. The morning unfolded at an easy pace, giving space for quiet moments, conversation, and anticipation before the day began.

The Dress and Tailoring
Carly wore a stunning gown from Martina Liana Bridal – modern, confident, and beautifully balanced between structure and softness. It suited both the setting and her assured personality. Will wore a tailored suit from Oliver Brown London, classic and timeless

Flowers and Styling
Florals by Tineke Floral brought texture, movement, and a natural looseness to the day, complementing Grangefields’ architecture without overwhelming it. Every element felt considered, but never overworked.

Stationery and Thoughtful Details
Custom stationery by Imogen Ink set the tone early, while the order of service, created by Keep Dates by Gem, added another layer of personal detail. These touches gave the day cohesion and clarity, while still feeling relaxed and unfussy.

Ceremony, Confetti, and the Weather
The ceremony itself was beautiful and emotionally grounded, followed by some of the most joyful confetti we’ve seen. Just after that moment, the rain arrived properly – one of those classic British wedding-day shifts. Rather than interrupting the flow, it became part of the story, bringing people closer together and adding atmosphere to the afternoon.

Handwritten notes for wedding guests
I could write a lot of words right here about meaningful gifts for guests. Carly and Will handwrote a little note for every guests that attended, if you want to see the benefits of being intentional in your planning – then all you need to do is check out some of these pictures and it’s written all across the faces of their friends.

Evening Light at Grangefields
Later in the evening, as the rain softened and the light dropped, we stole away for a couple shoot beneath the festoon lights at Grangefields. It was cold, a little bit damp, and we were heckled throughout – but it was one of those moments that only happens when you embrace the day.

A Day That Felt Like Them
Carly and Will’s wedding was cool, intentional, and emotionally present. A celebration shaped by travel, grounded in connection, and full of moments that mattered more than performance. Exactly our kind of day.
